MANUSCRIPT HOUSEHOLD ACCOUNT BOOK 1855 onwards,
Anonymous author . The first page is headed London
accounts Sept 28 1855. About 104 pages written on
which is just under half the book, the rest being
blanks. The book is covered in a "glazed " green
paper over boards , with attractive marbled endpapers
and all edges marbled in a combed pattern.The rear
board is marked and there is rubbing to
edges ,corners etc.The book is complete as issued
with no excised pages, and the last date is in July
1861. It is firm in its hollowback binding with
original taped and sewn gutter margins. Entries
include contras and drawings for cash, such as Beer
6d, Bacon 21/2d, Umbrella mending 2d, Cab at
Gloucester 1s Standard 1d. There are almost
daily "Beer" entries showing a fine understanding of
household neccessities.
