WILL'S WOODBINE CRICKET GAME
This game reminds me of the cricket games that I used
to play at school with World Elevens versus Famous
People etc, rolling pencil stubs to score runs, and
again if "Howzat" came up. In this version it's all
done for you with,I think considerable style. The
lever at the bottom is used to spin a wheel which
gives a score of runs in one window, and ways of
being out (or not) in the other window. If "Hows
that" comes up in your runs window, you flip the
metal cover over the window, spin again and find out
if you are out, and how. In the event that the wheel
stops between two words, the top lever acts as an
umpire and nudges the wheel to give a definite
result. Hours of fun- just choosing your teams could
keep you going a week.(Not a patch on the game that
my sons and I play on the kitchen table with a
spatula for a bat, a piece of cheese for the wicket
(yes, I'm afraid so) and balls made from roughly
shaped plastic wine corks. But that is another
story.) All fully working and just chipped enough to
show its age. There should be some rules that go with
this, but long lost now.
