No publisher or date, but dated Todtentanz 1800 on
one illustration. This sequence of the dance of death
follows exactly that produced by J.L.Fuchs and Co
after 1825 (after originals by Merian) using
engraving plates from 1789, with an almost exact copy
of the rare coloured state illustrations (also for
sale on this site). In this work the engravings have
been worked into chromolithographs with the addition
of an illustration of the church at Basle, and
omitting the reversible death's head illustration.
A very rare item, in tidy condition, but lacking
ties, mildly foxed throughout.Presented in a black
slipcase.
