OAKHAMPTON ELECTION .QUINT
The Rehearsal
Printed and Sold by the Booksellers of London and Westminster 1706
1706
Single sheet double sided broadsheet
newspaper.Disbound, small sewing holes to the edge,
lightly toned only, with light creasing to one
corner. Number 151. There is a nice piece in this
paper on the OAKHAMPTON election where a servant (one
QUINT) to a tradesman and voter in the town is taken
up by the Army following the signing of the warrant
supposedly by two clergmen personating Justices of
the Peace , the minister at Oakhampton and his
neighbour. The usual knockabout journalism from
Charles Leslie who wrote the paper- almost all of
which is taken up with the Oakhampton story- would
frame nicely as Oakhamton mentioned several times on
the front of the paper.
