(16) 381,(15)pp 1 folding plate of the decorated "unicorn horn" housed in the treasury of St.Denis , and 23 other illustrations, . 2nd ed. revised and enlarged by Bartholin's son Caspar. Original paper covered boards, with hand blocked paper on spine in red and green floral pattern. The book is in Very Good condition -one gathering has some browning.
A very curious work with marvellous de Hooghe illustrated frontis and other familiar plates including a curious narwhal, a rhinocerous (after Durer?). Bartholin was a Danish physician, naturalist,physiologist and anatomist.
