COMMONPLACE NOTEBOOK, ANON, circa 1830. 120x 195 mm
approx.Pp 90 including blanks. Embossed maroon boards
including sketches and poems etc. Illustrations:
Pencil sketch of Pacific Bay (?) Pencil sketch of
flower, Pencil sketch of milkmaid signed S.Downe
1833, Flower painting on tissue. Coastal scene with
volcano, pencil sketch signed and dated 1838. Slight
loss to top of leather on spine, edges rubbed and
corners bumped. Boards just starting in inner gutter
margins but still firmly attached. A typical
Commonplace book of the period,
