THE MORNING CHRONICLE 28.1.1825.W.Clement, 170 Strand,
London .Pp4, in 5 columns per page. Part tax stamp on
page 3. Very Good+ condition, but tightly trimmed with
small loss at bottom edges of PP2,3. On Page 3 there
is a long account of the 204th Anniversary of the
landing of the Pilgrim Fathers. It was attended by
visitors from all over New England. An artillery
salute was fired and there was a peal of bells rung,
before a procession consisting of members of the
Pilgrim Society,Clergy and many descendents of the
Pilgrims. They went to the Meeting House, where
prayers and hymns and an address took place, with a
Ball and supper in the evening- about 17 column
inches. Page three also has about 3 column inches on a
case of ill treatment of a chimney boy. It transpires
however that the father of the boy had sold the child
to the sweep, and now wanted him back to sell again
for more money. A very good paper with a good account
of the celebrations for the anniversary of the landing
of the Pilgrim Fathers.
