Illustrated throughout with 98 full page line engravings. Portrait of Mayhew in vol 1.The plates are all present although bound in the wrong order as usual and with The Book Auctioneer titled the Street Stationer as always.Bound in the original purple cloth with blind stamped gilt decoration on boards..All spines uniformly faded to brown, with original endpapers, and a publisher's advertising leaf tipped in to the gutter margin of Vol 1.Some rubbing to the edges of the boards corners and spine ends with some minor bumping but overall a very good plus set. Difficult to find in this pleasing condition in first edition.
