GREEN MAN PAINTED CARVING
Circa C17th
Triangular carved oak panel, approx 12" at widest
point and 6" or so in height bearing a painted Green
Man image about two and a half inches top to bottom
in dark greens and yellows.The panel has original
hand made nails protruding from it which once
attached it, perhaps to room panelling or
furniture.The painting and carving look C17th to my
eye, and the panel has certainly been shaped with
hand
tools. a most unusual survival.
