BOUND VOLUME OF

Bound Volume of "John Bull" for 1824 with Supplementary issue covering the trial of Joseph Hunt, John Thurtell and William Probert for the murder of William Weare.

Printed and published by E.Shackell at No 11 Johnson's Court,Fleet Street
1824
This is an interesting opportunity to purchase a complete year run of "John Bull" for 1824, complete with a most unusual Supplementary issue for the Weare murder trial and coverage of the execution of Thurtell. There is much coverage of the West Indies, the trial of Missionary Smith and slave trials ,and Wilberforce and the anti-slavery movement. The use of the treadmill for female prisoners is discussed at length, and there is the usual police news, accidents and offences. The volume is bound in marbled boards which appear to be printer's waste stippled over, and with a vellum spine. The papers are generally clean- one or two more heavily toned than the others, one issue with a page torn, professinally repaired, and a few with small edge tears and foxing. Generally very clean and readable.
