This is an interesting opportunity to purchase a
complete year run of "John Bull" for 1824, complete
with a most unusual Supplementary issue for the Weare
murder trial and coverage of the execution of
Thurtell.There is much coverage of the West
Indies,the trial of Missionary Smith and slave
trials ,and Wilberforce and the anti-slavery
movement.The use of the treadmill for female
prisoners is discussed at length, and there is the
usual police news, accidents and offences. The volume
is bound in marbled boards which appear to be
printer's waste stippled over, and with a vellum
spine. The papers are generally clean- one or two
more heavily toned than the others, one issue with a
page torn, professinally repaired, and a few with
small edge tears and foxing. Generally very clean and
readable.
